What We Do

We regularly get together in-person and online for a wide variety of events and service projects. Our regular chapter meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month, September through May, with a virtual option. We also gather online for social events, such as book clubs and movie watch parties, and we throw the BEST virtual happy hours.

Community service is central to what we do. Whether you’re looking to invest a little or a lot of time, we have a broad range of opportunities for you to serve your community, build skills, and enjoy a new group of friends. Everyone’s DAR journey is different — we want to help you find what interests you!

Here’s just a sampling of all we do:

We love hands-on service projects.

Women creating Thanksgiving Bags for vterans
Kayaking Clean-up on the Anacostia River

We promote life-long learning through chapter programs and outings, literacy promotion projects, partnerships with schools, and of course, genealogical research.

And you may think of DAR as involving a lot of luncheons, teas, hats, ribbons. It does, and we are here for it!
